As I read the article, I can't help but agree how well it compares to the current situation in the US with our "war on terrorism".
As I always thought, anyone who declares war, wants war to begin with. Rarely if ever must a country go to war.
As I read the article, I can't help but agree how well it compares to the current situation in the US with our "war on terrorism".
War is useful in keeping the population in a state of fear and therefore trustful of their rulers. H.L. Mencken said it best:
The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.
