American Giraffe

Monday, November 28, 2005

When I see this picture, I immediatly feel sympathy for the animal. Poor thing. Look at it. It like looking at a dog that's been run over or something. So sad.

Then after looking at it further, I realize that this is the state that a large number of Americans are in. WTF. What the hell is wrong with these people. And when I say that, I don't mean it on an individual basis. Hell, this is a new culture, and its almost acceptable.

Back to work

After a 5 day weekend, I am back at work. I really love my job, but I think I could of had a couple more days off to really feel weekend'ed out, LOL.

There is a lot to do here at work. A new 2 month project I'm on will keep me very busy. I'm glad we have a new guy in our development staff. He'll really help us to keep the load to a minimum during busy times.

Listening to the news. Apparently this Thanksgiving weekend was messed up. Hundreds of terrible transportation crashes, delays and problems. A pregnant woman died in a Greyhound bus crash. So sad.

Looks like Bush is starting to spin as if it is his idea to bring the troops home.
What a dope.

Not as Christian as we were

Thursday, November 24, 2005

"A half-century ago, when the United States was closer to being a Christian nation than it is today, racial segregation was normal, homosexual relations were felonious, and pregnant adolescents were entitled to the coat hanger of their choice. A little earlier, we had concentration camps for Japanese-Americans. Earlier still, there were lynch mobs, and, before that, we had slavery, Indian removal, and child labor, all of which were supposedly smiled upon by God"

- Frederick Crews

Never Sour

I have a high school friend, Dan that I keep in contact with. Even though our paths have grown in very different directions, I'm glad we still keep in contact over the phone.

I'm a secular humanist and he's a devout Christian. He believes very strongly in a greater power better known as God where I believe that faith in such a deity is one of man's greatest challenges in making the world a better where everyone can live in harmony.

Recently, Dan and I spoke for hours at a time about his recent travels where he has grown closer to God than ever before. The conversation went wonderfully well until the last 20 minutes, where we knew we would be finishing up.

I don't blame him, but during the end, I said some things that really disagreed with him. Once our talk was over, I felt that our disagreement in world views had put some distance between us.

I knew I had to call him in a couple week/months, but knew I'd feel odd doing it. Today :) He called. I was so happy to see that our last conversation wouldn't prevent him from calling me.

Now that he did call, I realize how silly I was to think we left on a bad note. This happens all the time! We both wished each other Happy Thanksgiving and he asked me remember what this holiday is all about.

I do give thanks, just not to the same as he does.

A bowling we will go

Wednesday, November 23, 2005

Nilson, my mom and I went to see a movie on Wednesday ( the day before Thanksgiving ). Nobody told us that there was a special weekend movie schedule. So the movie we wanted to see, Zanthura wasn't playing.

We as a trio could not agree to anything else to see, so, my mother gave a great idea. Bowling! So across the street we went. Two games we played. See the results for yourself. :)

Lazyboy Political Video

My co-worker friend Anita told me to watch this video from Lazyboy, Underwear Goes Inside Your Pants (2004).

Watch it: http://music.yahoo.com/ar-4463747-videos--Lazyboy

I think this is an awesome video! Very cool!

5 Days Thanksgiving Weekend

Company policy, you loose your personal days in December. I mean some people look at it like the end of the world, I saw it as a 5 day Thanksgiving weekend.

I took today off, I have tomorrow, Thanksgiving day off and Friday is given to us by the company as well. Great stuff, thanks CBS Digital Media.

So I'm taking this time to catch up on some work I have to do for some Client Friends. Yes Client friends because I am good friends with my clients :)

I really like Thanksgiving because its not a religious holiday so most of us can enjoy it without BS.
