The Dumbass Speaks

Tuesday, January 31, 2006

So Bush spoke to the country tonight.

Did anyone know that Cindy Sheehan, an invited guest of the State of the Union Address was arrested moments before Bush spoke in the capital building. She was arrested for disruptive behavior. She was wearing a T-Shirt that had the number of American's killed in Iraq. What the fuck!

Official Article:
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2006-01-31-sheehan-arrested_x.htm

If you listened Bush speak, you heard him talk about Line Item Veto Power. Line item veto is part of a new strategy that puts incredible power in the president's hands. It would allow the president to be able to veto any part of a bill being passed. This is crazy!

The whole thing was like a big pep rally. The Left and the Right kept getting up, cheering depending on what the pesident said. Every now and then the president would say something normal and they'd both cheer.

If the president acted on 1/3 of the things he said tonight, I will not damn him like I do.

I really hope democrats grow some balls between now and November’s elections.

Singing in the shower

I like singing in the shower. Don't always do it because I'm not always in the mood. I whistle in the shower too, but that can be hard with water on your lips.

I think I kind of knew this which means I didn't know it but it makes perfect common sense. A few reasons why it is thought that people enjoy singing in the shower.

Cool little tidbit/article from exploratorium.edu, The museum of Science, Art and Human Perception. Check it out, if you care.

Here is the little bit of footage I got from new years.

Enjoy!

Andy Dick Speech Writer for George Bush

This is a great video clip of Andy Dick being George Bush's (which sucks as a president) Speech Writer. It is perfectly out together. The funniest thing I've seen for at least 3 months!

Morning Save

So funny. Its 7:38am. I'm sitting in my car outside of Publix Supermarket. I admit it, a bit odd to sit in one's car and not waiting for anyone, but its early in the morning and the news on the radio ( streaming at www.airamericaradio.com ) was too good to cut off.

I look over to my right as a cute red head parks his Jeep Wrangler...

The guy fixes his hair in his side veiw mirror for a while as I stare uncomfortably at him. He gets out and starts walking towards Publix. Now that I think about it, he spits as he gets out of his car. Wonder if that was a "I'm str8 announcement?"

Now the funny part. As he walks away, his car rolls away with him. Looked like he had his car on a leash or something. His car, out of gear and with no emergency brake rolled faster and faster.

I got out of my car and yelled, pointing towards his car. He thanked me.

I felt a little embarrased for him.

Great fun. The End.

Speaking of Jehovah

Sunday, January 29, 2006

Two Postings ago/down I posted a funny image about what you can put on your door to prevent Jehovah Witnesses from knocking at your door.

Today is Sunday and I like to sleep late like the lazy bastard that I like to be. Around 10:45 I hear a loud pounding in the distance. I was 1/2 wake already from sleeping over ten hours. The pounding didn't go away as quick as I thought it should have. I got up to see if it was my apartment.

I look through the peep-hole and I see 2 gentlemen and a child of about 10 years. I thought of ignoring them for a few reasons: I had just woken up, my breath was kickin' and my face looks smashed. I took a deep breath, and opened the door.

I've always wanted to speak to Jehovah Witnesses. I'm a secular humanist and I disagree with them in most things. I really enjoyed the hour-plus long discussion. I never invited them in. Not sure if that was rude of me?

I was surprised to see that they brought along with them a very young kid. I regret not asking him his age. They made the boy speak within the first 20 seconds of my opening the door. I think that's terrible. If I see the guy, I will ask him his age and update this posting.

I told them that I didn't believe that the Bible was the written/inspired word of god and we discussed some things. They were very nice and were very good at listening to what I had to say. Nothing came of it. I feel as if they walked away from our meeting with more than I did because I doubt many secular people take the time to speak to them and show them the weakness that is faith.

They gave me some literature. I plan to read some of it. The main guy promised to come to my house ( I gave him my address ) and give me a cool documentary that does into detail about the Holocaust and how Jehovah Witnesses of the time did not follow Hitler and were the first to be killed at the concentration camps. I welcome the documentary and told them I admire the Jehovah Witnesses for the piece keepers that they are.

Google in China

Personally I like Google. I think very highly of them and with all the corruption that goes on in the world, I trust Google. I form this opinion because Google has never given me any reason to think otherwise.

Yahoo on the other hand, a grand organization I don't trust as much. I know that their goal is more registered users. The more they have, the more they can brag about and the more money they make. Even though Yahoo's overall goal of getting more users isn't perfect, the services they offer in reach of that goal is very helpful, so no big complains.

Google's mission, ("To Organize the Worlds Information") is beautiful and their recent move to provide service to China is very controversial. I am totally with them on this. I don't agree with China's government but if you look at the big picture, you'll see that a limited version of Google's service will help the Chinese people more than if there was no Google service at all.

Read what Google has to say about all this:

Web sites judged in a blink

Wednesday, January 18, 2006; Posted: 2:01 a.m. EST (07:01 GMT)

TORONTO, Ontario (Reuters) -- Internet users can give Web sites a thumbs up or thumbs down in less than the blink of an eye, according to a study by Canadian researchers.

In just a brief one-twentieth of a second -- less than half the time it takes to blink -- people make aesthetic judgments that influence the rest of their experience with an Internet site.

The study was published in the latest issue of the Behaviour and Information Technology journal. The author said the findings had powerful implications for the field of Web site design.

"It really is just a physiological response," Gitte Lindgaard told Reuters on Tuesday. "So Web designers have to make sure they're not offending users visually.

"If the first impression is negative, you'll probably drive people off."

In the study, researchers discovered that people could rate the visual appeal of sites after seeing them for just one-twentieth of a second. These judgments were not random, the researchers found -- sites that were flashed up twice were given similar ratings both times.

They also matched the responses given by subjects who were shown the sites for longer.

But the results did not show how to win a positive reaction from users, said Lindgaard, a psychology professor at Carleton University in Ottawa. "When we looked at the Web sites that we tested, there is really nothing there that tells us what leads to dislike or to like."

And while further research may offer more clues, she said the vagaries of personal taste would always be a limiting factor.

"If design were reducible to a set of principles, wouldn't we find an awful lot of similar houses, gardens, cars, rooms?" said Lindgaard. "You'd have no variety."

New Year / Windows Vista

Tuesday, January 10, 2006

Been forever since I've written. I need to write more, so here I go!

New year, 06, very cool. I have hope for a lot of things this year, including the majoritization of Democratic power in US Government.

I got lots of stuff for Christmas including a digital camcorder from my companies holiday raffle. I'm going to start video blogging soon.

Microsoft is coming out with Windows Vista. I really like the windows product but have to admit, that there are way too many similarities between Windows Vista and Mac/OS X. Bill Gates recently presented windows Vista and here is what they did to it.
